Baku Condemns New French-Armenian Weapons Deal
Baku condemns the new French-Armenian arms deal, stating that the leadership of Armenia and Macron’s authoritarian regime carry the full responsibility for creating a "new hotspot for war" in the South Caucasus.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has issued a special statement condemning the military cooperation between Armenia and France and the new deal for the acquisition of French weaponry by Yerevan.
“Despite the warnings from the Azerbaijani side, France is supplying Armenia with lethal and offensive artillery and other military equipment, which is further evidence of France’s provocative actions in the South Caucasus region,” the Azerbaijani MoD's statement reads.
Armenia and the French KNDS defense industrial company have signed a contract for the procurement of Caesar artillery systems. This news was announced today by the French Minister of Defense, who described the signing of the new military equipment acquisition contract as an important event.
The "Caesar" is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer whose range, with the use of the most modern shells, can exceed 55 kilometers. It is actively used in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Last December, the French Senate urged the government to expedite the provision of "Caesar" systems to Armenia.
