Armenia to Thoroughly Evaluate Indian Systems Before Making Purchase Decision, IDRW

Armenia is expanding its defense procurement strategy, aiming to acquire a broader range of military products from India, including modern military drones and medium-range "ground-to-air" class missiles. This information was reported by the Indian Defense Research Wing (IDRW) portal.

It is noted that Armenia has already acquired the Akash 1S air defense system and is considering the possibility of acquiring Indian-Israeli manufactured MR-SAM medium-range missiles and Akash-NG medium-range air defense systems.

"Although India has yet to commence the supply of the Akash 1S system to Armenia, these deliveries are expected to begin next year. The Akash 1S is a modern air defense system capable of intercepting aircraft up to 30 kilometers away, providing reliable protection against aerial threats. In addition to Akash 1S, Armenia has expressed interest in two other missile defense systems. The MR-SAM, developed through cooperation between India and Israel, is already in production and has been confirmed as an effective device," states IDRW.

According to sources from IDRW, following the commencement of Akash 1S deliveries, Armenia plans to conduct thorough technical assessments of the MR-SAM and Akash-NG systems to ensure they meet their defense requirements. "Based on these evaluations, a decision will be made between the MR-SAM and Akash-NG," IDRW portal mentions.
