VIDEO: Tunnel Entrances Are Opening Through Explosions at Kajaran-Agarak
Construction work is underway on the 23 km section of the North-South road between Kajaran and Agarak. The contracting organization, the Iranian “Abad Rahan Pars International Group and Tunnel Sadd Ariana,” is conducting blasting and earthworks. Construction is taking place in 6 sections. Tunnel drilling is expected to begin in about a month. Currently, tunnel entrances are being opened through explosions.
In a 32 km section of the road, according to European standards for highways, it is planned to build 17 bridges, 2 tunnels (with a total length of about 900m), and 5 transport junctions. The technical oversight of the construction works is being carried out by the Croatian Institute IGH, a joint-stock company for research and development in civil engineering.
The construction of the Kajaran-Agarak section is financed by the Republic of Armenia and the Eurasian Development Bank's Fund for Stabilization and Development. The project is being implemented by the Road Department Foundation.
