VIDEO: Regulation of Electric Scooter Traffic - Who Can Drive

The government is set to regulate the traffic rules for electric scooters. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan announced that individuals aged 18 and above, or those 16 years old with an AM category driving license, will be permitted to operate electric scooters.

Electric scooters can be ridden in bicycle lanes or on the right side of the road. Riders using bicycles and mopeds for deliveries must wear helmets, and a speed limit of 20 km/h is established. According to the deputy minister, international standards have been taken into account.

She emphasized that administrative responsibility is expected for violations of the traffic rules. “It is not solely about penalizing those who violate the electric scooter rules, but it is crucial to foster a culture that will ensure regulated traffic considering the popularity of these vehicles,” she stated.
