EU Extends Sanctions Related to Russia's Annexation of Crimea
The European Union has extended the sanctions imposed in June 2014 related to the annexation of Crimea by Russia for the tenth consecutive year. This was stated in a press release from the EU Council.
The sanctions have been extended until June 23, 2025.
A referendum took place in Crimea on March 16, 2014, during which the majority of the residents of Crimea and Sevastopol voted in favor of reunification with Russia. Following the results of the referendum on March 18, 2014, an agreement was signed on Crimea and Sevastopol's acceptance into the Russian Federation.
