Georgia Requests Visa Regime Changes from Putin
The Georgian party "Unity for Peace" has officially appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the visa regime. According to a report by RIA Novosti, as cited by "Sputnik Georgia," party international secretary Mamuka Pipia stated, "We are addressing you, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, with a request to completely abolish the visa regime for Georgian citizens."
Furthermore, he requested Putin to grant amnesty to those Georgian citizens who violated the rules of stay in Russia or were deported prior to the easing of the visa regime.
Pipia also called for simplifying the regulations for employment of Georgian citizens in Russia and establishing work quotas for them.
On May 10, 2023, Putin canceled the visa regime with Georgia, with the exception of citizens entering Russia for the purpose of engaging in work activities or staying in Russia for more than 90 days, including for educational purposes.
