The United States Welcomes Armenia's Accession to the Artemis Agreement
The United States welcomes Armenia's accession to the Artemis Agreement. This was stated in a press release from the U.S. State Department.
“Yesterday, during a ceremony at NASA headquarters in Washington, Armenia became the 43rd signatory of the Artemis Agreement. The agreement was established in 2020 by the United States and seven other countries to confirm a practical framework of principles governing the exploration and use of outer space.
The Minister of High Technology Industry, Mikayel Hayrapetyan, signed the Agreement on behalf of Armenia in the presence of Armenia’s Ambassador Lilit Makunts, Deputy Minister Gevorg Mantashyan, Advisor to the Minister Marta Sandoyan, Deputy Ambassador Arthur Grigoryan, Acting Assistant Secretary of State Jennifer R. Littlejohn, and NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.
The statement noted that the United States values expanded bilateral cooperation with Armenia and supports Prime Minister Pashinyan's efforts aimed at peace and prosperity in Armenia and the South Caucasus region.
“The United States welcomes Armenia's joining the other 42 states in affirming the principles of sustainable civil space activities agreements. The U.S. State Department and NASA lead the United States' educational outreach and the implementation of the agreements,” the document stated.
