VIDEO: Theft in Shirak Region: 7 Bottles of Brandy and Vodka, Framed Honey, and a Music Center Stolen from House
On June 1, police in Amasia received operational information that a 37-year-old resident of the village of Voghji in the Shirak region and his friend had committed theft from a fellow villager's house. The information was verified and confirmed.
The police reported that on the same day, the homeowner was invited to the precinct, where she filed a report regarding the crime. An operational group from the precinct went to Voghji to the victim's house. It was found that two individuals, one of whom was masked, had entered the house by opening a window in the living room and stolen seven bottles of brandy and vodka, framed honey, and a music center. The total damage was approximately 400,000 drams.
Through subsequent measures, law enforcement also identified the masked accomplice of the 37-year-old man, who was a 53-year-old resident of Yerevan. The police in Amasia had substantiated reasons to believe that this was not their only theft.
A report regarding a residential burglary in Voghji had also been received on February 26 of this year, and criminal investigators observed a definite link between the two thefts. In the previous incident, the homeowner had reported that since September of the previous year, they had been absent from the country, and taking advantage of this circumstance, the burglars had broken the lock on the kitchen window and stolen everything possible, including household items, dishes, tablecloths, towels, curtains, aluminum pots, glass containers, and firewood.
The suspicions of law enforcement that both thefts were the work of the same individuals were confirmed on June 4. On that day, while acting on operational data, the suspected men were located and arrested in the village of Zorak in the Ararat region and transported to the police station in Amasia. Under pressure of the evidence, they confessed to having committed both thefts.
Furthermore, it turned out that knowing the homeowners were once again absent from the country, they had entered the previously robbed house again about 10 days ago.
As part of the initiated criminal proceedings, searches were conducted in the men's residences on June 6. Some of the stolen items, mostly household appliances, were recovered. Additionally, at the house of the 37-year-old resident of Voghji, 58 various cartridges were also discovered. The seized items have been confiscated. The 37-year-old man has been detained, while a home arrest measure has been chosen for the 53-year-old man. Investigations are underway to clarify the circumstances.
