The Clergy Performs Your Funeral Rites, Followed by Your Last Blessing: Konyanyan to the Opposition

You have gathered now in the National Assembly to discuss the content of your address and accuse us of refusing to come to the session and discuss the content of the address. We are discussing it. This was stated by Hayk Konyanyan, the leader of the 'Civil Contract' faction, during a speech on behalf of the faction.

'You come and speak about our program, we respond, and you say we are afraid to discuss our program with you. Your logic is subjected to erosion, dear people, if we were afraid, we would show up,' Konyanyan said. 'Yesterday, Garnik Danielyan said they are afraid of us, that’s why they don’t come to the session, but on the contrary, if we were afraid, we would come. It's like that story about the sour grape. You remember that film, right? Where he says, 'Just let me hit you once, so others can see that I am hitting you.'

'You said you have the votes, and the members of the CP have joined, you had given one hour to 96 of you, now you’re coming here saying it’s an address that has no legal force,' Konyanyan added.

He then posed a question to the opposition: 'Dear people, do you feel this position, do you feel what Bagrat Galstanyan is doing to you? Bagrat Galstanyan has been performing an endless, continuous funeral rite for the past month, it is your political funeral rite that he is performing. I note that for a month now, the clergyman has been performing your funeral rites, and following that will be your last blessing,' he concluded.
