Do Not Tell Me What to Do, Enough Is Enough: Simonian to Ohanyan

During a discussion in the National Assembly regarding the feasibility of an extraordinary session called by the opposition, the speeches of both opposition and ruling party MPs were accompanied by mutual accusations. Following this, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, stated that it is evident to him that attempts are being made to provoke disruptions in the assembly due to a lack of substantive issues to address.

“I warn you, your sarcastic remarks, particularly Mr. Khachatryan, along with the disrespectful attitude towards colleagues due to the absence of content...,” Simonian left his statement unfinished. The leader of the “Hayastan” faction, Seyran Ohanyan, interjected from his seat, saying, “Make observations to everyone.”

“Mr. Ohanyan, then focus on your work, do not tell me what to do, enough is enough,” replied the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Ohanyan responded, “I will do whatever I want.”

“You did what you wanted, be quiet. I ask you, esteemed lawmakers, not to fall for provocations; people have nothing to say, the content is empty, they are trying to organize provocations, please keep this in mind,” Simonian added.

It is worth recalling that the opposition parliamentary factions “Hayastan” and “Pativ unyam” yesterday submitted a request to the National Assembly Board to convene an extraordinary session either tomorrow or by June 17, with an agenda on the government’s resignation and the formation of a new government. The ruling party, CPP, voted against this initiative and announced that they also would not participate in the legally mandated session on the 17th.
