Unknown Individual Breaks Windows of US Consulate in Sydney
An unknown individual has broken the windows of the US consulate in Sydney and smeared red paint on the doors. This information was reported by the New South Wales Police.
According to the agency, the incident occurred on Monday night. Initially, the man "attempted several times to break the windows but could only create cracks on the armored glass." Later, upside-down red triangles appeared on the doors, a symbol reportedly used by pro-Palestinian organizations, according to the police.
The police also noted that experts collected fingerprints from the glass, which will be attached to the investigation materials. A representative from the consulate stated that no one was harmed during the incident and that the diplomatic mission continues its work as usual.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese linked the incident to concerns held by individuals, especially those with relatives in Israel or the occupied Palestinian territories, regarding events in the Middle East. He stated that such actions "in no way contribute to achieving peace and are certainly a crime."
The US consulate in Sydney was previously attacked in April 2024, when unknown individuals wrote slogans like "Freedom for Palestine" on the building's façade and doused the windows with red paint. In May, a similar attack occurred on the American consulate in Melbourne.
