Gegarkunik Police Discover Drugs and Cannabis Plants
On May 29, around 1:15 AM, policemen from the Gegarkunik region stopped an Opel vehicle for inspection at the 19th kilometer of the Sevan-Martuni-Getap road. The 42-year-old driver, a resident of Hrazdan, was taken to the Gavar police department on suspicion of illegal drug possession and use, while the vehicle was placed in a secured special area.
According to the police, during a personal search, a greenish substance wrapped in paper was found on the driver. The vehicle also contained a cigarette roll filled with the same substance, as well as a plastic container filled with soil containing five cannabis-like plants.
The 42-year-old resident of Hrazdan stated that the paper package and the roll contained marijuana and that he had just pulled the cannabis plants from the ground. He also added that all of it was for personal use.
The man and the prepared documents were submitted to the Gegarkunik regional investigative department. The circumstances are being clarified.
