State of Emergency on Vanadzor-Alaverdi Road: Landslide Occurs, Road Closed in Both Directions

A state of emergency has been declared in the Lori Province following an incident that occurred moments ago. A landslide has taken place on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway in the administrative area of Tumanyan, specifically on the road leading to the well-known Kobayr Monastery, resulting in the closure of the road.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, special machinery has arrived at the scene to begin clearing the road. The governor of Lori Province, Aram Ghazaryan, has also arrived, and at his instruction, the provincial staff have joined in to assist rescuers and road workers in removing debris from the road.

The photojournalist reports that the landslide has also affected the railway, covering tracks with debris. Cleaning operations are currently underway in multiple sections due to landslides occurring in different areas.

Fortunately, preliminary information indicates that there are no casualties as a result of the landslide.
