It Will Be Thorny: Lavrov Discusses Transition to a New World Order
The transition to a new world order will occupy an entire historical era and will be thorny, especially considering that Washington is actively trying to obstruct it. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“The expansion of BRICS is a clear confirmation of the process of forming a multipolar world order. New centers for making politically significant global decisions are emerging from the Global South and Eastern states, representing the global majority. These countries advocate for a fairer way of life based on the sovereign equality of states and cultural diversity. The transition to a new world order will occupy an entire historical era and will be thorny,” Lavrov said.
He emphasized that the U.S., together with its allies, is not leaving any stone unturned in its attempts to maintain the status of evasive hegemony and to slow down the objective processes of forming multipolarity, using economic tools as weapons. “Through pressure from sanctions and financial blackmail, they are trying to influence the choice of development models and trading partners of sovereign states. The West does not shy away from using forceful methods either. The examples are known to everyone,” the minister concluded.
