Andranik Kocharyan on the Possibility of Convening an Extraordinary Session
There is no question of convening an extraordinary session on the agenda of the ruling Civil Contract Party (CPP), stated CPP member Andranik Kocharyan during an interview on "Azatutyun".
"No, we do not have such an issue on our agenda; that is on the agenda of the 'Bagrat Brothers,' which does not coincide with our agenda. In general, the political agenda is absent for this spiritual leader," he said.
In response to a suggestion that an extraordinary session could be convened by law next Monday if the CPP does not grant consent today, Kocharyan replied, "Keep an eye on the developments; everything will be within the framework of the law."
It should be noted that the "Armenia" and "I Have Honor" factions today submitted a request to the National Assembly council to convene an extraordinary session either tomorrow or before June 17, with the agenda concerning the government’s resignation and formation of a new government.
If the National Assembly council rejects the opposition factions' request, then according to the rules of procedure of the National Assembly, an extraordinary session will automatically be convened on the 5th working day, June 17, at 6:30 PM.
Recall that Bishop Bagrat appealed to the parliamentary factions yesterday, urging the opposition to initiate a meeting on June 11 at 4:30 PM with the agenda of the government’s resignation and formation of a new government.
"On June 10, the National Assembly council is obliged to make a decision on convening an extraordinary session. The deputies must act according to the will of the people," Bishop Bagrat stated.
