Emmanuel Macron May Resign, Media Reports
French President Emmanuel Macron is discussing the possibility of resigning amid the backdrop of the parliamentary elections for the National Assembly, according to a report by Europe 1 referencing sources close to the situation.
"The president's resignation is not a taboo, yes, all options must be considered. He is prepared to sacrifice the end of his presidential term," the media quoted an insider from the president's circle.
It has been noted that Macron has been discussing this scenario with someone from his entourage over the past few weeks. While it is not preferable, it could serve as a form of "dramatization" ahead of the upcoming elections.
Earlier, it was reported that Macron announced the dissolution of the lower house of parliament and the holding of extraordinary elections. Macron made this announcement late in the evening of June 9, when it became known that Marine Le Pen's National Rally party was winning the European Parliament elections by a significant margin.
