Alen Simonian on Possible Azerbaijani Saboteur
No saboteur from Azerbaijan has crossed into the Armenian side. This was assured by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, in a conversation with journalists.
“Who said that? Are you familiar with him? The soldier is missing, but what do you know? He might have come and surrendered to us, he might have gotten lost, or we may have taken him captive,” he responded to a journalist's remark about an Azerbaijani saboteur crossing into Armenia.
He mentioned that it is not his authority to officially declare what has happened. “Haven't we learned well that the country is being destroyed, that the state operates transparently, and that I need to come and tell you that an Azerbaijani saboteur has come, this is what he said, that is what he said? Is there no state secret?” Simonian noted.
It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported that a private soldier, Jeyhun Huseynov, has gone missing under unknown circumstances in the Sadarak region of Nakhchivan. There have been rumors in the press that an Azerbaijani soldier has crossed the Armenian border from the Vayots Dzor (Areni) area and has been detained.
