Biden Compares Putin to Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler
World War II veterans would have wanted America to stand up to Putin’s aggression, Biden says.
U.S. President Joe Biden suggested that American veterans of World War II would have wanted their country to confront today’s aggression from Russian President Vladimir Putin, just as they stood against the aggression of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
When Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, Biden stated that the “fearsome dictator” who “conquered a continent finally met a worthy adversary.”
“Because of them, the war started. They opposed Hitler’s aggression. Does anyone doubt that they would want America to stand against Putin’s aggression here in Europe today?” he said.
“They fought to overcome the ideology of hatred in the 1930s and 40s. Does anyone believe they wouldn’t turn heaven and earth to overcome the ideologies of hatred today?” Biden remarked.
Throughout all the D-Day events, Biden, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and other world leaders drew parallels between the fight against fascism in the 1930s and the fight against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine today.
