Galuzin Did Not Clarify Where Moscow Wants to Open Consulates

Moscow and Baku are discussing the establishment of Russia's main consulates in Azerbaijan, with the Russian Federation hopeful for success on this matter. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin during the "Russia-Azerbaijan" session at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“I would like to point out that the accelerated development of our relations, including the search for new opportunities in trade and economic cooperation, will coincide with the establishment of our main consulates in Azerbaijan. Discussions are currently taking place between our Azerbaijani friends and us, and we hope that they will also conclude successfully,” emphasized the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.

Galuzin did not specify where Moscow intends to open consulates. In recent days, Grigory Karasin, head of the Council on Foreign Relations of the Russian Federation, announced that Russia plans to open a main consulate in the occupied Stepanakert and expects support from Azerbaijan on this issue. The Russian Foreign Minister also spoke about the 3+3 format, of which Russia and Azerbaijan are active participants, stating that it could bring the necessary stability and security to the region.

According to him, external powers, as practice shows, come to the region with their own, primarily confrontational agenda. “This hinders the resolution of our common problems,” said the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister during the Russia-Azerbaijan business dialogue at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
