“There is absolutely no talk about that”: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister on Ambassador’s Return to Armenia

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has stated that the Russian ambassador will soon return to Armenia following consultations, and that there is no talk of a rupture in relations.

“It is normal diplomatic practice to summon an ambassador for consultations. In this context, Sergey Kopirkin was called for consultations. We have conducted these consultations. Therefore, I think we can expect Sergey Pavlovich's return to Yerevan very soon to resume his duties,” he announced.

In response to a question about the lowering of the level of relations between the countries, he stated that “there is absolutely no talk about that.”

“The ambassador was summoned for consultations, he was not withdrawn. Russia and Armenia are allies, strategic partners,” he added.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister noted that “there may be misunderstandings, but that does not mean that we are lowering the level of our relations.” It is worth mentioning that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place from June 5-8.
