Azerbaijan Responds to Armenian Foreign Ministry Statement

The statement from the Armenian Foreign Ministry is nothing more than an attempt to divert the attention of the international community, creating obstacles to the establishment of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This was stated by Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aikhan Hajizade.

"Today, the main issue is the 'continuing territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are enshrined in numerous legal and political documents of Armenia, primarily in the Constitution of Armenia' (quotes from Tert.am), which directly references Armenia's declaration of independence calling for 'the unification of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.' Azerbaijan has a legitimate right to demand the removal of those claims from the Constitution, 'which directly affect Azerbaijan's national security, and this cannot be considered interference in Armenia's internal affairs' (quotes from Tert.am).

Armenia must understand that the only way to ensure stability and peace in the region is by building relations with neighboring countries based on recognition of their sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as maintaining it, and 'eliminating challenges that pose threats in that direction' (quotes from Tert.am).

We remind that earlier it was reported that the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that 'the Republic of Armenia has no territorial claims against any of its neighbors, including Azerbaijan.' 'The Constitution of Armenia and its amendments are an internal affair of the Republic of Armenia, and we assess Baku's attempts to interfere in these ongoing domestic discussions since 2018 as gross interference in our country's internal affairs.'
