Lemkin Institute Appeals to UN
The Lemkin Institute for the Prevention of Genocide has called on the UN to cease support for Azerbaijan regarding the hosting of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29).
“Azerbaijan is a genocidal state led by a president who regularly expresses genocidal ideology against Armenians. This includes referring to them as dogs, jackals, and terrorists. Currently, Azerbaijan is unlawfully holding around 300 Armenians and refuses to release them, including 8 members of the elected government of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh),” the statement reads.
The statement also notes that some of the detained individuals have been subjected to torture, and the international community must reject the normalization of genocide and its ideology, halting support for Azerbaijan as the host country of the COP29 conference.
