Upper Lars Closed for All Types of Transport

The road leading to the Upper Lars checkpoint is closed for all types of vehicles. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by Vahan Hakobian, the customs attaché of the Armenian Embassy in Russia.

“Due to a landslide in the Gudauri-Kobi section of the international Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway, the Khaqhi Pass is completely closed in both directions for all types of vehicles,” he stated.

Traffic will only be restored after the clearing work is completed, with additional information to be provided on this matter.

It is noted that Upper Lars was last closed on May 8, resulting in a backlog of about 800 trucks on the road.
