Home Arrest Imposed on Levon Kocharyan's Assistant Arthur Sukoyan

The assistant to the deputy of the "Armenia" faction, Levon Kocharyan, Arthur Sukoyan, has been placed under a two-month home arrest, as reported by Sukoyan's lawyer, Erik Aleksanyan, to "Azatutyun."

According to the lawyer, the decision was made today by the Court of Appeals judge Lusine Alaverdyan to grant the defense’s appeal.

Sukoyan is accused of obstructing the professional activities of a journalist from Civic.am by using apparent violence. The dispute arose from statements made by Civic employee Davit Levonyan regarding the former Archbishop of Tavush, Bagrat.

Sukoyan has not denied hitting the journalist, claiming that targeting the church is unacceptable to him.

In a nearly nine-minute video posted on his personal YouTube page, the journalist uses offensive language towards Bagrat, accusing him of instigating a war against Armenia with millions of dollars received from the Kremlin.
