60-65% Burns on Body Surface and Lung Injuries: Condition of Two Citizens Affected by Explosion
Following yesterday's gas station explosion, two victims who were admitted to the intensive care unit have sustained burns covering 60-65% of their body surface and injuries to their lungs. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the director of the National Center for Burn Care and Dermatology of Armenia, reported this in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
“Their condition is assessed as extremely critical. The depth of the burns has not yet been determined, but we anticipate that they will be classified as third or fourth degree. They have sustained the most complex and deep burns. Primarily, the burns are concentrated around their back areas,” Hovhannisyan stated.
He also informed that last night seven patients were admitted; six of them are continuing their treatment in the hospital, while one woman with minor burns was discharged yesterday evening.
