The North-South Corridor Could Become a Demanded International Route: Putin

The "North-South" transport corridor may become a sought-after international route. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with heads of global news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

It is noteworthy that representatives from unfriendly countries are also participating in the meeting.

Regarding the "North-South" route, Putin stated, "It can transform into a very good and demanded international corridor. This will happen when cargoes travel from here—specifically from the port of St. Petersburg—right across Europe to Azerbaijan, and then to Iran, eventually reaching the shores of the Persian Gulf."

According to the Russian president, the project promises to be very beneficial and in demand because it will enable the transportation of goods ten days faster than through the Suez Canal.

Putin added that investments in this project are reliable, and profitability will be guaranteed. He mentioned that foreign investors, including Arab sovereign wealth funds, have expressed interest in investing in the "North-South" corridor.
