South Korean Authorities Respond to Sending Balloons Filled with Trash from North Korea

The President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol, has termed the sending of balloons filled with trash and manure from North Korea as a reckless provocation. This statement was made during the summit of the Republic of Korea and African countries in the suburbs of Seoul, according to TASS.

“North Korea has sent balloons filled with trash, engaging in extremely reckless provocations,” said the state leader. He recalled that since May of last year, North Korea has made four attempts to launch reconnaissance satellites and has continued testing launches of various types of missiles.

According to Yoon Suk-yeol, the Republic of Korea will “defend peace” in the Korean Peninsula by upholding United Nations Security Council resolutions. On June 2, North Korea pledged to cease the trash campaign targeting South Korea. According to the Korean Central News Agency, Pyongyang will halt these actions as they are simply a retaliatory measure against actions taken by Seoul.
