Manasyan Ready to Meet Bishop Bagrat, But Not in Presence of Journalists: Spokesperson
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, is prepared to meet with Bishop Bagrat but not in the presence of journalists. This was stated by the press secretary of the Human Rights Defender, Arthur Aslanyan, to the participants of a protest rally.
It is noteworthy that the leader of the "Tavush for the Fatherland" movement, Bishop Bagrat, along with the participants of the movement, arrived by march at the building of the Human Rights Defender's office. The bishop announced that they came to the office to receive responses to their inquiries and also to determine whether the Human Rights Defender has been serving human rights or others during this entire period.
“We learned that the spokesperson of the Human Rights Defender is coming for a meeting. Now see the difference: there were huge lines of police in front of all government offices, but there are none in front of the Human Rights Defender's office. Either the Human Rights Defender holds no importance in their eyes, or they want to show that the Human Rights Defender truly serves the people,” said Bishop Bagrat.
The spokesperson of the Human Rights Defender, Arthur Aslanyan, approached the protesters and announced that Manasyan is ready to accept Bishop Bagrat and up to four individuals to listen to them and answer their pressing questions, but without journalists. In turn, Bishop Bagrat indicated that at least three media outlets should be present at the meeting to ensure transparency.
