Kremlin Comments on Reports of Scott Ritter Being Prevented from Leaving the U.S.

The Kremlin has acknowledged reports regarding the restriction on former U.S. intelligence officer Scott Ritter from traveling to Russia, but lacks details about the situation. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the President of Russia, provided this information.

Previously, Scott Ritter, a former U.S. Marine intelligence officer and military analyst, told RIA Novosti that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials confiscated his passport on orders from the State Department as he attempted to board a flight to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). He expressed disappointment that he would not be able to attend the conference this time.

“We have seen those reports in the Kremlin, but we simply need to know the details. It is unlikely that we and you will learn more about the specifics; I do not want to shout anything here. He is a former employee of the special services, so certain restrictions may be imposed on him regarding travel abroad, especially to a hostile country,” Peskov stated in response to reporters' questions.
