Kocharian Doubles Wealth in Six Years While Sabotaging War Inquiry Commission

According to the newspaper "Zhoghavorд", Andranik Kocharian, one of the most notorious deputies in public opinion, was elected as an MP from the "Civil Contract" party on June 20, 2021, and became the head of the National Assembly's committee on defense and security. Prior to the 2018 revolution, Kocharian served as a security expert in various organizations.

It should be noted that Kocharian has also been active in various ranks of power since the 1990s. In 2019, in the declaration of his official income for the year 2018, Kocharian reported only one apartment in a multi-apartment residential building and one garage. At the time he assumed office, his financial assets amounted to just 5 million drams.

However, the declaration of MP Kocharian for 2018 was quite meager and uninformative, which is not the case for his 2023 asset, income, and interest declaration. The 2023 declaration indicates that Kocharian, a prominent figure in the ruling CC party, has acquired another apartment over the past six years. The apartment, located in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan, was reportedly inherited by the deputy in 2020, though the source of the inheritance remains unknown.

Kocharian's annual income has increased by 3 million compared to the previous 2022 declaration, while his income in 2021 rose by 1 million compared to 2022. Thus, it appears that over the last 2-3 years, Kocharian’s salary from the National Assembly has increased by 4 million drams.

In 2023, Kocharian's cash assets have nearly tripled compared to the 2022 declaration. In 2022, the deputy's cash assets amounted to 2 million 300 thousand drams, whereas this year they total 2 thousand euros, 3 thousand US dollars, and 4 million 700 thousand drams. Kocharian has not declared the source of his cash assets, raising questions about where he has saved these financial resources.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that Andranik Kocharian is the MP and head of the National Assembly's ongoing committee on defense and security, who has sabotaged the activities of the inquiry commission regarding the 44-day war and has been unable to release the committee's report for almost half a year.
