Kiran residents are demolishing their houses: "Hraparak"
"Hraparak" newspaper reports: As a result of the border demarcation carried out in Kiran, one of the owners of the two houses that passed to the Azerbaijanis, Mher, has started demolishing his house since yesterday. The administrative head of Kiran, Kamo Shahinyan, explained to us that people do not want to leave what they have built over the years to the Azerbaijanis. "One house belongs to Khanum, but she hasn't started to demolish it yet; I don’t know why... perhaps she will also begin in the coming days," said Shahinyan.
The owners of the two houses passing to Azerbaijan have been given a deadline to vacate their homes by June 24. This means that by the end of June, Azerbaijanis will appear at the entrances to Kiran, although the border guards have already been stationed in the area for several days.
Regarding the compensation process, Shahinyan assured that he is not involved in it; the regional administration is handling it, and he doesn’t even know how many residents of Kiran have agreed to the compensation offer. When asked whether the authorities will manage to build an alternative road as promised within 2 months, he said, "I can't say— they are working day and night, but I can't predict what will happen."
