Do You Propose War? Mirzoyan to Minasyan

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan today addressed the opposition MP Artsvik Minasyan’s question in the National Assembly regarding what actions the government is taking to ensure the rights of the people of Artsakh to return.

Mirzoyan asked how the opposition envisions this return, under what conditions, whether it is based on the conditions proposed by Baku, or under the autonomy of Azerbaijan, or independent Nagorno-Karabakh. “If it is independent Nagorno-Karabakh or the status quo that was in 2019, are you ready to do it at the cost of at least 4,000 casualties? Are you proposing war, or as your Prime Ministerial candidate says, should soldiers die, that’s their job?” said Mirzoyan.

Artsvik Minasyan responded that with international guarantees and certain degrees of autonomy, the people of Artsakh should return to live in their homeland. “You say ‘Artsakh autonomy,’ wonderful, but you are saying this at a time when there are no Armenians left in Nagorno-Karabakh. When there were Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, and we proposed to lower the threshold for independence, we were called traitors, Turkish collaborators, and filthy,” Mirzoyan said in response.
