Gunfire in Yerevan: One Injured
On June 3, gunfire was reported in Yerevan, resulting in one injured civilian. Around 19:00, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Yerevan Police Department received operational information about gunfire on Nor Aresh Street 41, leading to an injury.
According to Shamshyan, police and patrol officers discovered blood-like traces, a bloodied slipper, a cross, and spent cartridges in front of house number 17 on the specified street. The area was cordoned off by Senior Sergeant Vahram Azizyan and Patrol Officer Agapi Khachatryan.
Authorities found that the injured individual was transported to the hospital by an ambulance crew from Yerevan 1-03, identified as 52-year-old Arthur A. from house number 17 on Nor Aresh Street.
The police investigation revealed that around 18:30, Arthur A. had a conflict over household issues with his cousin, 46-year-old Garik A., who also resides in the same house. During the altercation, Garik A. fired two shots from a smoothbore firearm, causing Arthur A. to sustain a gunshot wound to his left leg.
A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative division regarding the incident. While investigators and forensic experts were working at the crime scene, police received operational information about the whereabouts of the suspect Garik A. After explanatory work, he presented himself to the Erebuni Police Department, where he was arrested on reasonable suspicion.
The police also seized the firearm used in the crime. Garik A. and the weapon have been handed over to the investigative division by the Erebuni police.
