Video: Home Under Attack; Man Hides and Fires Multiple Times

On the night of May 27, at 4:05 AM, the operational management center received a report from the Armavir police department. A resident of the village of Bambakashat in Armavir province called to inform that there had been an attack on his home, and it seemed that the assailants were armed.

The police operational group promptly headed to Bambakashat. It was discovered that a 46-year-old man from the same village had broken a window to enter the house, and when the homeowner awakened to the noise, he fled.

A criminal case was initiated. After identifying the man, officers from the Armavir regional police department, the Armavir police station, and the local patrol service went to his home. The information that he might be armed raised no doubts, so special attention and vigilance were essential.

It turned out that the 46-year-old man was hiding in the basement. The police attempted to persuade him to come out, but he refused, repeatedly shouting that he had a weapon and would harm anyone who entered. Law enforcement began to negotiate with him.

During the nearly five-hour standoff, the man fired his weapon several times. Around 9:30 AM, as the police maintained safety protocols and approached, he attempted to fire again with an object resembling a double-barreled shotgun, but the homemade weapon malfunctioned.

The police managed to disarm him and arrested him at 9:40 AM, then transported him to the Armavir police station. A search revealed various items, including an object resembling a double-barreled firearm intended for firing pistol ammunition—each barrel containing a single round of ammunition, various 12-gauge shotgun shells, a homemade device for firing gas pistol ammunition, a folding knife with a secret lock, a flashlight, and a mobile phone.

The man stated that he had crafted the homemade weapons himself, purchased the knife and flashlight from a store, and had found the pistol ammunition years ago. He and the documents were submitted to the Armavir regional investigative department. Based on the investigator's decision, the 46-year-old man was arrested and taken to a detention facility. The circumstances are being clarified during the preliminary investigation.
