Unfortunately, Everything is Moving Slower than Expected: Borrell
The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has stated that the EU is facing challenges in fulfilling its military aid promises to Ukraine, particularly regarding the delay in the Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Kyiv.
“Unfortunately, everything is moving slower than expected. The initiative was launched at the end of February, and now we are at the end of May, and we are discussing that around 80,000 ammunition will be delivered by the end of June. This shows that we have certain problems between promises and actions,” he said ahead of a meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels.
Russia believes that the supply of weapons to Ukraine hampers negotiations, directly involving NATO countries in the conflict and constitutes 'playing with fire'. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the US and NATO are directly participating in the conflict, not only through the supply of arms but also through training personnel in the territories of the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
The Kremlin has stated that the West's supply of weapons to Ukraine does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative impact. It is becoming evident to all experts that no weapon supplied to Kyiv is capable of breaking the course of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, as previously stated by the Kremlin.
