Putin Makes Statement on Relations with Azerbaijan

Russia places great importance on its allied relations with Azerbaijan. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin in a congratulatory message to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Independence Day, which was published on the Kremlin's website.

“We attach great significance to the allied cooperation with Baku. I am confident that together we will continue to systematically develop effective bilateral cooperation in all areas, as well as coordinate efforts in regional matters,” the message reads.

Putin noted that this is in line with the interests of both peoples and “is moving along the path of strengthening security and stability in the South Caucasus and the Caspian Sea.”

The Russian leader also emphasized that Azerbaijan has achieved globally recognized successes in socio-economic development, enjoys a well-deserved reputation on the world stage, and actively participates in addressing key issues on the international agenda.
