KP Official Comments on Khachatur Sukiasyan's Statements
Khachatur Sukiasyan's position expressed during his verbal address does not reflect the stance of the "Civil Contract" party and faction. This was announced today by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the National Assembly faction of the "Civil Contract" party, during a press briefing with the factions of the Assembly.
"The 'Civil Contract' party and faction are guided exclusively by democratic means," Hovhannisyan stated. Regarding the fact that there are deputies in the parliamentary opposition who serve the interests of a third country, he noted that this has been discussed multiple times. As for what will happen to them… all actions will occur in accordance with the legal order of the RA,” he added.
Addressing the question of why legal processes are not initiated against foreign agents if they exist in the National Assembly, Hovhannisyan mentioned that they do not pursue political repression.
He pointed out that representatives of the opposition factions before him, Seyran Ohanyan, Garnik Danielyan, and Hayk Mamijanyan were voicing political texts trying to convince that the boundary demarcation is being done incorrectly. "This creates escalatory risks of an attack on Armenia, the consequences of which we know. This is a foreign influence agent, and providing legal assessments on this at this stage is quite difficult because we are dealing with political texts,” Hovhannisyan noted.
It is worth recalling that yesterday in the National Assembly, during a session, MP Khachatur Sukiasyan from the "Civil Contract" faction made threats against opposition deputies. He referred to the activities of the "Tavush for the Homeland" movement and attempted to remind the public of certain episodes from 20 years ago, particularly stating that formerly those in Armenia who mentioned other countries either ended up in prison, died, or were dispossessed. Sukiasyan remarked that if the opposition does not recognize their limits and hinder Armenia's development, they will be talked to using the same methods.
