Former Governor of Ararat Demands Return of 46 Properties Worth Over 350 Million AMD
The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia is demanding the return of illegally obtained assets from the former governor of Ararat, Aramais Grigoryan, and connected individuals. The press service of the Prosecutor's Office reports that the Anti-Corruption Court has already accepted the claim for review.
The case involves 46 immovable properties, 2 movable properties, and the participation in 3 legal entities. Additionally, according to the report, the seizure pertains to over 350 million AMD.
“213 million 870 thousand AMD, which is not substantiated by Aramais Grigoryan's legal income, is of illegal origin; it was transferred between 2004-2023 and cannot be identified or seized, and 97 million 143 thousand AMD remains as illegal income resulting from the transformation or use of property of illegal origin,” the statement reads.
The Prosecutor's Office has also filed a claim for the seizure of bonds acquired through banks from Aramais Grigoryan, amounting to around 62 million AMD, as well as rents received from various properties of illegal origin.
It should be noted that Aramais Grigoryan is a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 2003 and 2006. In 2008, he served as the Minister of Agriculture of Armenia. In 2013, he was appointed as the governor of Ararat, and in 2014, he became the Minister of Environment.
