Video: A Minute of Silence in Parliament to Honor the Victims of the Presidential Helicopter Crash

Julya

In Parliament, a minute of silence was observed to honor the memory of the victims of the presidential helicopter crash, including the President and Foreign Minister of Iran and other high-ranking officials.

It is reminded that the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian crashed on May 19 in the north-western part of the country, specifically in the Verzeghan region. The senior officials were returning from a ceremony for the opening of hydroelectric facilities on the Araks River, attended by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident and conducted searches throughout the night, a task complicated by darkness and heavy rainfall. On the morning of May 20, it was reported that the burned wreckage of the helicopter had been discovered, and all on board had perished.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Governor Malik Rahmatin, Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Mohammad Ali al-Hashemi in Tabriz, IRGC representative Seyed Mehdi Mousavi, and three crew members.

The powers of the President of Iran have been transferred to First Vice President Mohammad Mohberin for a period of two months.
