Archbishop Bagrat Addresses Political Elite of Artsakh
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the "Tavush for the Homeland" movement, met with the political leadership of Artsakh and the people of Artsakh, presenting the upcoming actions and the rationale behind the movement.
"The process of delimitation and demarcation is not only a matter of our future but also a current disaster. The legal aspect of this process is entirely contradictory to both our Constitution and international principles. In our assessment, this is a false agenda for achieving peace. The aim of our movement is to achieve genuine peace—both in thought and in physical terms—while the instigator of war is the current government along with its leadership. This struggle is about truth and it must prevail; there is no alternative. It is paramount for us to have a peace agenda in the country, for instance, eliminating the divisions and hatred between Artsakh Armenians and Armenians from Armenia, between black and white," the Archbishop said.
He emphasized that a 24-hour effort is necessary to pull the country out of the current situation, both on internal and external fronts. According to him, the solutions will be technical and material, but before that, the human mind must be clear, aimed at having a homeland and dignity.
The leader of the Tavush Diocese stressed the importance of keeping the issue of Artsakh constantly in the spotlight, as it is no less important than the issue of the Armenian Genocide. Archbishop Bagrat asserted that this issue should become a national concern and not be segregated.
He noted that Armenia is in a very fragile situation at this moment, evidenced by the fact that the Azerbaijani side's statements regarding delimitation in Tavush have remained unanswered to date.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in the occupied Shushi that the delimitation and demarcation with Armenia are proceeding on Azerbaijan's terms and will continue in the same spirit. He also highlighted that under their single demand, four villages of Kazakh will be returned without a shot being fired, and this will continue in the future.
The Archbishop remarked that, in effect, the homeland is being piece by piece ceded to the adversary, while no one seems to care about the consequences.
The other part of the meeting continued behind closed doors.
