Bagrati Bishop Urges French-Armenian Journalist Leo Nikoyan to End Hunger Strike, Calls on NSS for Personal Meeting
Bagrati Bishop addressed French-Armenian journalist Leo Nikoyan from the courtyard of St. Anna Church, urging him to end his prolonged hunger strike. The Bishop appealed to him to stop the hunger strike, stating, “I have asked Leo once before, and I am asking him again to end the hunger strike. Our support and solidarity are with Leo.
“Now I publicly appeal to the NSS (National Security Service) to allow us to meet Leo, because we might need to cross the border; he is on the other side of the border at the ‘Zvartnots’ airport and has not been permitted to enter Armenia. We want to meet and try to persuade him to end the hunger strike,” said Bagrati Bishop.
It is noteworthy that Nikoyan was denied entry to the Republic of Armenia upon reaching the passport control point at Zvartnots International Airport, being informed that his entry was prohibited. He has declared an indefinite hunger strike inside the airport.
