Ararat-Armenia Wins First Armenian Cup Title

Ararat-Armenia was crowned the champion of the Armenian Cup for the first time in its history, overcoming Urartu in the shootout of the 2023/24 tournament final. This was reported by Armsport.am.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw after regular time. Urartu's player Mikayel Mirzoyan opened the scoring in the 31st minute, but just six minutes later, Alexis Rodrigues equalized for Ararat-Armenia.

No goals were scored during extra time, leading to a penalty shootout to determine the winner. In the shootout, Vardan Minasyan's team executed five flawless penalties, while goalkeeper Arsen Beglaryan made a brilliant save, contributing to the team's 5-3 victory.

It is noteworthy that Urartu reached the Armenian Cup final for the 12th time and was competing for this title for the second consecutive year. This was Ararat-Armenia's second attempt at claiming the title.
