One Gold, Four Silver, Four Bronze: Sambo European Championship
Mayis Nersisyan of the Armenian sambo team has won a gold medal in the 64 kg weight category at the European Championship taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia. Nersisyan secured a confident victory in the finals with a score of 11:00, earning the title of European Champion.
Other representatives of Armenia, including Narek Dalakyan (64 kg), Arsen Khanchyan (98 kg), as well as Arman Avanesyan (98 kg) and Arpine Mnatsakanian (54 kg) in combat sambo, have won silver medals and achieved the title of vice-champion.
Karen Sargsyan (58 kg), Srbuhi Hovakimyan (59 kg), and combat sambo athletes Mher Merjanyan (71 kg) and Avetik Poghosyan (88 kg) have earned bronze medals and stood on the third step of the podium.
The day before the sambo European Championship in Novi Sad, a meeting of the European Sambo Federation's executive committee took place, during which elections for the new composition of the committee and the leadership of the federation were held. As a result, Mikael Hayrapetyan, the president of Armenia's sambo federation, was elected as the vice-president of the European Federation.
