Slovakia on the Brink of Civil War, Interior Minister Warns
Slovakia is almost at the brink of civil war, linked to the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico. This statement was made by the country’s Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok, as reported by TASS.
“A storm of unleashed hatred has emerged, and now we are almost standing on the brink of civil war,” the publication Novinky quoted him as saying.
The minister commented on the “malicious comments” made on social media regarding the assassination attempt on Fico and urged the citizens of the country to stop inciting hatred.
He added, “All actions following acts of hatred will not go unpunished.”
It is recalled that yesterday an armed individual fired five shots at 59-year-old Fico, after which the Prime Minister was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent surgery hours later.
Prime Minister Robert Fico's life is no longer in danger following the assassination attempt.
