No Issues Found in Baghanis-Voskepar Areas, Says Pashinyan

During the demarcation process, there were no issues in the Berkaberi area, and as a result, there are no problems. This was announced today at the government meeting by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“We are saying that there could have been issues in the Baghanis-Voskepar village areas, but it has practically turned out that there are no problems. You know that there were very sensitive issues related to the Voskepar Church and the old Baghanis-Voskepar road. As a result of the demarcation, that road is not only fully within Armenia's sovereign territory, but due to new circumstances, it is also safe for traffic,” he stated. He added, “We had no issues in the church area because there is a considerable distance between the church and the border line.”

We remind that yesterday the ninth meeting of the commissions for border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan took place at the border, headed by Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev. As a result of the meeting, a Protocol was signed. The parties agreed to coordinate the date and place for the next meeting in a working manner.

In Kiran village, not all border posts have been installed. Regarding how this issue will be resolved and whether there will be new road construction and house expropriation, the Prime Minister's office has stated that the three coordinates of Kiran have been identified electronically, and the posts will be installed later. The others have been installed.

It is noteworthy that the residents of the aforementioned villages in Tavush have raised their voices in protest, considering the ongoing situation a serious threat to their security. Under the leadership of Bishop Bagrat, the Tavush movement against the unilateral and illegal border demarcation has turned into a nationwide cause.
