Protester Arrested with Long-Bladed Knife at Demonstration
The Investigation Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an inquiry in the Center and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan regarding the circumstances of an individual illegally possessing and carrying a cold weapon during protests in the capital city.
On May 11, 2024, at 18:20, officers from the Central Division of the RA Police arrested a participant of the protest near the "Khachkar Park" area at the intersection of Aram and Buzand streets, on suspicion of possessing and carrying a cold weapon. A sharp weapon with a 60 cm blade was discovered in his possession.
A criminal case has been initiated based on the first part of Article 334 of the RA Criminal Code. The preliminary investigation has revealed that this participant of the protest carried the long-bladed knife for three days while attending gatherings at Republic Square in Yerevan. Public criminal proceedings have been initiated against him under the first part of Article 334 of the RA Criminal Code. The preliminary investigation continues.
