Archbishop Arshak's Response to Arsen Torosyan's Post
According to "Hraparak", "Former Minister of Health and current MP from the Civil Contract party, Arsen Torosyan, known for being an atheist and anti-church, made a post yesterday against the Armenian Apostolic Church. He stated: 'A heavy burden has fallen on our people. Apart from the fact that he must break more than 100-year-old myths and stereotypes to navigate this stormy sea, he also must finally and fundamentally break a 1700-year-old myth, although he has partially done this by establishing statehood. But since the church is revealing its true objectives, which is to sacrifice the statehood of the Republic of Armenia for its internal and external group interests, playing with the beliefs and emotions of its followers and lavishly making false promises, the people must give a final assessment of this structure and its state-destroying goals. Throughout its 1700-year history, the direct contribution of the church to the destruction of Armenian statehood will be exhausted; the Republic of Armenia will not falter.'
We asked Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, the secretary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, to comment on this post. He said: 'I do not think there is a need to comment on nonsense. I would only add that to seem intellectual, one should not consider obvious facts as mythology, but should first and foremost make use of the free services of the brain.'
