Criminal Proceedings Initiated Following Journalist's Apparent Hit-and-Run Incident

On May 14, 2024, at 10:50 AM, a medical center reported that Nare Gevorgyan was admitted for treatment following a hit-and-run incident on Khachatur Abovyan Street in Yerevan.

In connection with the incident, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code. Preliminary information obtained during the investigation indicates that the victim, Nare Gevorgyan, works as a journalist covering demonstrations in the capital for Mediahub.am, and the incident reportedly involved police officers in a 'Gazelle' vehicle conducting a special operation in the specified area.

Reports indicate that at the time of the incident, the vehicle was displaying flashing blue and red lights and had its audio signals activated. A forensic examination has been ordered as part of the criminal proceedings. The investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to clarify the full circumstances of the event.
