Incidents Involving Journalists During Protests, Investigation Launched by Ministry of Internal Affairs

This morning, an internal investigation has been initiated regarding incidents involving journalists during protests in downtown Yerevan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

"One of the cases is related to journalist Meri Manukyan, and the other concerns journalist Hasmik Arakelyan," the ministry stated.

It is noteworthy that starting from early morning, streets have been blocked in Yerevan following the call of the Diocese's Archbishop Bagrat of Tavush. As of 08:00, approximately 20 streets in the capital have been closed off. By 11:00, around 151 individuals had been detained by the police.

Footage published by media outlets shows police using force to detain numerous citizens, with some being thrown to the ground. During these actions, one of the operator's cameras was damaged, a journalist from 24news.am lost consciousness during a scuffle, and there was a verbal altercation between journalist Hasmik Arakelyan and one of the police officers.
