Erdogan is closely monitoring the issue, claims source from Ankara

Turkey periodically offers the parties involved in the Ukraine conflict to resume Istanbul negotiations, but there have been no responses. This information comes from RIA Novosti, citing a diplomatic source in Ankara.

The topic is consistently raised by Turkey at the highest level, the source indicated. “Mr. President (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) is closely monitoring this issue. However, there is currently no specific response from either side,” the source stated.

In April, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that direct pressure from London was the reason Moscow and Kyiv did not sign an agreement during the negotiations held in Istanbul in 2022. He noted that this was revealed by the Ukrainian side itself. Peskov also stated that Moscow has no preconditions for negotiations with Kyiv.
